...New Jersey Governor, Chris Christie, who rightfully turned down running in 2012
But why doesn’t the main-stream media just tell the truth to the American public about this issue?
Recently, a number of the well known op-ed writers have been writing questioning columns asking, “Why were there no serious Republican candidates running against President Obama?” They seriously have written that, instead of the current “whack-a-doodles” like Bachmann, Perry, Gingrich, Cain and Santorum, why didn’t Ryan, Daniels, Christie, Rubio, Jeb Bush or Petraeus jump at the chance to run ?
Really? They are still asking this question???
With all that is happening in this bizarre campaign season, these writers seem to be grasping for this kind of question at a time when they should be having real problems in deciding on what excellent political gem to write about that’s already out there on an everyday basis.
And on the other side of the politics, the “off-the-wall” pundits on the far-right just continue keeping the average American from taking them seriously.
As an example, some of the “righties” latest subject selections are just so “out there" that in a recent column from a regular FOX contributor, (that I will not dignify by mentioning his or her name). Instead of dealing with the serious issues of the eventual up-coming party debates, this writer makes a big deal by complaining about the hair-do of the Chairman of the Democratic National Committee, Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-FL)...?
And this same individual also wrote a piece saying that they agreed with what the US Marines did when they desecrated the remains of the dead Muslim insurgents in Afghanistan.
Oh yes, let’s impress the other countries around the world by urinating on the rules of war for all civilized nations as stated at the Geneva Convention and as directed in the US Military Handbook.
But, getting back to that original bizarre question regarding the “lack of serious Republican candidates”.
Let’s get real. When one looks at running for president in 2012, what sane individual, even in the GOP, would really want to become president with what they would have to deal with if they actually won ?
Let's look at what they would inherit if a GOP candidate became president today:
>>> An economy that their own party had driven into the ditch over the past 2 decades.
>>> A country that due to their previous de-regulations, caused the worst economic disaster since 1929.
>>> A high unemployment rate that is not where it should be due to the GOP blocking of all the possible bills in congress that would have helped the nation’s economy.
>>> A nation where the conservatives on the US Supreme Court have said that corporations are “people”.
>>> A nation where the Republican Governors that were elected in 2010, currently have such record-low approval ratings, that they are either being re-called or they will probably not survive in their next election.
>>> But the main reason that any capable or rational potential GOP candidate has been running away from being a 2012 presidential candidate?
In the current shadow of the devastation as provided by the last Republican president and his Republican Congress, just what positive accomplishments or vision for the future does that same Republican party have to offer those American voters that were so devastatingly affected by the GOP’s past mismanagement?... Answer: Absolutely None.
>>> Do they have a positive vision or plan for stopping the “too big to fail” banks and Wall Street from once again doing what they did the last time?... No they don’t.
>>> Have they offered any jobs bills in the House or the Senate for dealing with our failing infrastructure and our schools, bridges and roads that are in the process of crumbling to the ground?...No.
>>> Do they push to go to war (again) in the middle-east by promising to attack Iran, which would probably cause the Iranians to cut off the oil going through the Straits of Hormus causing gas prices to double or triple?...Yes they do.
>>> Do they support an oil pipeline going across the middle of America that, other than providing some temporary jobs, would mainly benefit Canada and other nations, but not the United States? (And a pipeline that would be a major security issue and a perfect target for a potential terrorist attack)...Yes.
>>> Do they have any ideas for covering the 40 million Americans that still do not have health care coverage?...No.
>>> Have they stated that they want to replace Medicare with a voucher program that would not work for anyone with a pre-existing condition?...Yes.
>>> Do they support continuing the economy that have made the gap between the rich and the poor the widest since just before the 1930’s Great Depression?...Yes.
>>> Do they support the idea that “corporate money is a form of free speech”?...Yes.
>>> Did they agree that they would not raise taxes on the very rich for any reason?...Yes.
>>> Have they put getting rid of the current Democratic president above helping average Americans and the US economy?...Yes.
>>> Do they want to keep the Defense Budget at levels that will bankrupt the nation?...Yes.
>>> Do they want to privatize Social Security?...Yes.
>>> Do they believe that government cannot help the nation’s economy by creating any jobs, even temporary ones?...Yes.
>>> Do they believe that moving jobs off-shore is a good idea?...Yes.
>>> Do they believe as Herbert Hoover did that the market will eventually cure itself?...Yes.
And this is a just short list of the reasons that no reasonable or capable Republican agreed to be a 2012 GOP candidate. Why would anyone with any common sense, from the past failed Republican party, even consider being a candidate in 2012?
And why do the nations columnist on either side of the political spectrum not take the time or make the effort for offering this information to the American public.
It’s a real mystery.
